Industrial relations conference
Posted on: November 17th, 2011 by Faculty of Social and Behavioural SciencesJosh Healy (Research Fellow, NILS) and Keith Hancock (Emeritus Professor, NILS) both gave invited presentations at a major recent industrial relations conference. The event, jointly organised by academics at Melbourne and Monash universities, marked the 20th anniversary of the shift to enterprise bargaining in the Australian industrial relations system in 1991. The aim was to discuss the reasons for this significant change and to evaluate its effects on the Australian economy and society in the successive two decades. Dr Healy’s presentation considered the link between enterprise bargaining and wage inequality, while Professor Hancock’s presentation discussed the relationship between enterprise bargaining and productivity growth. Both contributions will be published in a special issue of the journal, Labour and Industry, in early 2012.
