Top End training showcases quality supervision

Inter professional clinical supervision workshop in Darwin
Inter professional clinical supervision workshop in Darwin

Flinders academics Helen Wozniak and Narelle Campbell recently offered a Top End inter professional workshop focussed on foundation training in clinical supervision. Twenty eight health professionals from a wide range of nursing, allied health and medicine attended. Quality placements and supervision play a significant role in influencing recruitment back to the workplace so the program emphasised the balance of supervision and patient care responsibilities.

The workshop material included educational principles underpinning placement learning, as well as practical and evidence-based guidance on planning and teaching in the ‘hot’ environment of a busy clinical workplace.

Participants rated the training highly and gave comments such as ‘The content was easy to apply to my workplace, and well delivered’, ‘Has made me reassess how I supervise students, how to increase their learning and how to give constructive feedback’, ‘Great workshop’.
