Indigenous Netball Stars consider a career in health

Netball All Stars

Flinders NT was proud to support the Alice Springs Netball Indigenous All Stars teams to attend the NT Indigenous Netball Carnival in Darwin from the 27th – 29th July.

Three days of netball and cultural activities were combined with visits to the Flinders NT and Charles Darwin University (CDU) campuses with a tour of the Nursing facilities at CDU and the Northern Territory Medical School at Flinders NT. Highlights of the visit were the ‘Escape Room’ activities where the group had to solve clues to save a patient’s life and the Anatomy Labs where they were introduced to the wonders of the human body. The group enjoyed their visit and a number of them are considering a career in health.

Alice Springs selected two teams to compete against the Northern Territory Top End and remote Western Australia. The 20 young women aged between 13 and 17 years returned to Alice Springs triumphant in both divisions, with seven of the 20 chosen to compete in the National Indigenous Carnival in Melbourne in 2019.

Flinders NT is proud to support these young women in both their sporting and professional aspirations.
