Congratulations to Susan Lester on receiving the Flinders NT award for Outstanding Supervisor Katherine Region. The Outstanding Regional Supervisor award recognises Supervisors who have made an outstanding contribution to student supervision within their local region.

Susan commenced early this year as a speech pathologist in Katherine  and quickly recognised the one-of-a-kind opportunities of the cultural and remote setting in which she works. She joined forces with Flinders NT in order to facilitate a range of Speech Pathology students from universities all over Australia to undertake placements each term in two of the Katherine schools, St Joseph’s and MacFarlane Primary school.

Susan promotes the unique opportunities in rural and remote health with students singing her praises at the level of support provided both in learning and in being away from home. She also facilitates the students in taking any opportunity offered to them and seeks clinical opportunities outside the scope of her placement by linking in with other agencies.
