Welcome to Dr Katie Williamson, Senior Lecturer in Rural Medicine

Flinders NT welcomes Dr Katie Williamson as the newly appointed Senior Lecturer in Rural Medicine in Nhulunbuy.

Katie’s role as a Medical Academic for the Nhulunbuy region includes coordinating learning opportunities for medical students and providing mentorship. She will also be supporting Margot Wall, our Campus Administrator, in capacity development for medical student placements, supporting supervisors offering those placements, and working with the local cultural educators to ensure that students in the region have appropriate cultural orientation.

Katie is a Senior Rural Generalist at Gove District Hospital and a General Practitioner at Arnhem Family Medical Centre. Having graduated from the University of Sydney in 2005, Katie brings a wealth of clinical experience in rural health across three Australian states. She has a passion for education which she applies to both student support and GP Registrar training. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Wollongong.
