NHMRC Grant Writing Workshop

Posted on: November 5th, 2009 by Kim Graham

Please note: Change in venue due to large demands on videoconferencing facilities. This workshop will now be held in Lecture Theatre 2, Level 5 Flinders Medical Centre. All other information remains as below.

The Faculty of Health Sciences will  hold a Grant Writing Workshop on Monday 9th November from 12.30-2pm in Lecture Theatre 4 of the Flinders Medical Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will concentrate on NHMRC grants, and on Project Grants in particular. The purpose is to provide information about the process, some tips for success, and how not to shoot oneself in the foot. The goal is to increase our success rate in the future.

The session will be relatively informal, with plenty of time for questions. Professors Ian Gibbins, David Watson, John Coveney and Keryn Williams, all with some experience in different aspects of the NHMRC system, will lead the discussion. Kathryn Burdon will describe the experiences of a successful early career investigator. We hope to cover all domains: biomedical research, clinical research, and public health/population health. At the end, Glenda Neild will provide a brief introduction to the new NHMRC Research Grants Management System - the online program that will replace InformFiller for the next round. Do feel free to attend even if not for the full length of the session.

Note: Item added to the Office of Research blog on behalf of the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Administration staff.
