The Opthalmalic Research Institute of Australia (ORIA) is calling for applications from ophthalmologists, trainee ophthalmologists or for work being done in University Departments of Ophthalmology.  ORIA will consider funding individual grants during 2011 for up to $50,000 for a period of one year.  Further information is available from the ORIA website.

The Heart Foundation offers funding to support researchers working in the area of cardiovascular disease and related disorders.

Travel Grants - Round Two

Travel grants are available for travel in June 01 - September 30 2010 to support Australian researchers travelling to present their cardiovascular research at a conference overseas or Indigenous health researchers travelling to present their research in Australia.

Fellowships 

The following fellowships are being called for, to commence in 2011:

Postdoctoral Fellowships (Biomedical, Clinical, Public Health)

These fellowships are tenable for up to 2 years and are available to medical and science graduates who have completed an MD or PhD award within the last 5 years and who are seeking support to become independent researchers.

Overseas Research Fellowships

Overseas Research Fellowships are available to medical and science graduates who have completed a PhD or MD award within the last 24 months.  

Career Development Fellowship

These fellowships are tenable for up to 4 years and are to develop the career of Australian citizens or permanent residents, who are 2-12 years postdoctoral.

Applications for all fellowships close at 5pm, Monday, 12th April 2010.  Office of Research closing date is 5 April 2010.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Macquarie Group Foundation (MGF) are calling for applications for the above awards. 

The awards recognise excellence and innovation in medical research by exceptional researchers in Australia contributing to the search for prevention and/or a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. There are two award categories:

• Early Career Researcher, and
• Established Researcher.

Deadline for applications: Friday, 23 April, 2010. Office of Research closing date 16 April 2010.
