In December 2014, one of Southgate’s Senior Research Fellows, Dr Lareen Newman, was a guest lecturer at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. Based on her digital inclusion research, she gave a talk on “The implications for health equity of moving health and social services online” at an on-campus intensive for students on the BASA-online (Bachelor of Social Work-Online) course. During this time, she also held talks with Professor Patricia Arnold and her staff in the university’s E-Learning Department and learned of their successes and challenges in expanding online teaching.
