Mohan Paudel, supervised by the Southgate Senior Research Fellow, Dr Sara Javanparast, and A/Prof Gour Dasvarma from the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences has successfully completed his PhD. His study explored the socio-cultural factors contributing to the very high perinatal mortality rates in mountainous regions of Nepal.

He has published two papers from his work (PLUS ONE http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0194328 and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth https://bmcpregnancychildbirth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12884-018-1776-3) and has two more papers under review.

Mohan has recently received the 2018 College of Medicine and Public Health RHD Student Publication Award for his paper in PLUS ONE.
