{"id":404,"date":"2020-11-30T11:45:06","date_gmt":"2020-11-30T01:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/caring-futures-institute\/?p=404"},"modified":"2020-12-03T11:36:46","modified_gmt":"2020-12-03T01:06:46","slug":"childhood-obesity-prevention-webinar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/caring-futures-institute\/2020\/11\/30\/childhood-obesity-prevention-webinar\/","title":{"rendered":"Childhood obesity prevention webinar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Caring Futures Institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/brittany.johnson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr Brittany Johnson<\/a>, will present in a free webinar in mid-December on childhood obesity prevention.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar &#8216;Early prevention of childhood obesity &#8211; moving the field forward through collaboration&#8217; will be held by the NHMRC Centre of Excellence in Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood on 17 December.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Johnson is part of The TOPCHILD Collaboration, which unites researchers in early childhood obesity prevention worldwide, and is leading the way in innovative knowledge synthesis methodologies in this field.<\/p>\n<p>While the project is focused on obesity prevention, the approaches Brittany will be presenting on will be relevant to a range of areas in the Caring Futures Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Johnson&#8217;s research focuses on applying behaviour change theory to improve children&#8217;s diet quality and health behaviours.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers interested in next generation of systematic review methodologies, collaboration and childhood obesity prevention should attend this event.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar will be recorded so people who register will receive the recording link after the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topics covered:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>advanced types of meta-analyses and methods to understand intervention components<\/li>\n<li>findings from applying these methods with four EPOCH early childhood obesity prevention interventions, as well as learnings to consider when designing interventions in future<\/li>\n<li>the TOPCHILD Collaboration taking these approaches to a global scale by bringing together 33 trials (including &gt;35,000 participants), with additional trials currently being invited to join.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The webinar will go ahead on\u00a0Thursday, 17 December 2020, 9:30 \u2013 10:30 AM (ACDT).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com.au\/e\/childhood-obesity-prevention-advancing-the-field-through-collaboration-tickets-127415965583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Click here to register.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Caring Futures Institute, Dr Brittany Johnson, will present in a free webinar in mid-December on childhood obesity prevention.
