{"id":50,"date":"2019-11-29T14:54:21","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T04:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/caring-futures-institute\/?p=50"},"modified":"2020-10-07T08:58:36","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T22:28:36","slug":"public-lecture-our-changing-world-implications-for-ageing-caring-dying-and-grieving-jennifer-tieman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/caring-futures-institute\/2019\/11\/29\/public-lecture-our-changing-world-implications-for-ageing-caring-dying-and-grieving-jennifer-tieman\/","title":{"rendered":"Public lecture: Our changing world: implications for ageing, caring, dying and grieving \u2013 Professor Jennifer Tieman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this public lecture, Professor Jennifer Tieman discusses how our changing world \u2013 ageing population, changing family structures, diversity across populations, industrial changes, information technology developments, pharmaceutical developments, voluntary assisted dying legislation changes \u2013 impacts when and how we die.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Tieman says death and dying is becoming removed from the community setting and more commonly in health facilities and funeral homes.<\/p>\n<p>Palliative care hospitalisation is growing faster than other types of hospitalisation and around half is for people over 75 years.
