Attaching to and working alongside the LMS are a host of other systems and applications that extend it functionality, like Turnitin for example.<\/p>\n<p>As you will all be aware, the University is changing its LMS from Moodle to Canvas, and some early starters have already started teaching in Canvas in January. Many more of you will be among the early adopters starting in semester 1 this year. So, for this year FLO will have two hearts beating together side by side, Moodle and Canvas, until semester 1 2024 when Canvas will take over completely.<\/p>\n<p>For the rest of 2023, some topics will be taught in Moodle and some will be taught in FLO. Generally, you will be teaching in one or the other, but if you are teaching multiple topics you may be teaching in both systems at the same time, and your students may be using a mixture of both as well. However, the technologies you need should be available in both platforms. One of the major differences between FLO and Canvas is the site structure, so it will be important to understand how that works and get yourself and your students used to using the Canvas Modules menu to navigate. Another change is that in Canvas you will be using Teams to set up online meetings with your students, while Moodle will still be using Collaborate.<\/p>\n<p>All the content from your Moodle topics will be migrated to Canvas when you move, unless you are creating a brand-new topic, in which case you will start with a blank site as you would in Moodle.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who are teaching in Canvas there is extensive help available including a 24\/7 phone hotline and chat available.
