{"id":264,"date":"2018-01-29T11:57:55","date_gmt":"2018-01-29T01:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/cilt\/?p=264"},"modified":"2018-01-29T11:57:55","modified_gmt":"2018-01-29T01:27:55","slug":"faqs-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/cilt\/2018\/01\/29\/faqs-2\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Each month we will share some of our timely frequently asked questions around educational technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Q: Who can do what in FLO?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Well, a couple of weeks until OWeek, and one area that does cause some confusion on FLO are the different roles available, and most importantly when to use them.<\/p>\n<p>Editing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic Coordinator (TC) \u2013 This role is set in the student system \u2013 it is important because as well as FLO the role gives access to a number of other systems including: Reading Lists through the library, maintaining your online SAM.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Lecturer\u2019 and \u2018Instructor\u2019: These allow the person to edit a FLO site (just like the TC). They can also adjust the gradebook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Non-editing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tutor is a limited role because they can\u2019t change the FLO site (don\u2019t have the edit button) and can\u2019t record marks in the gradebook. They can mark assignments (and we do suggest this is the best way to mark assignments).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not in teaching team.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FLO Support (editing) and FLO Assistant (no editing) are roles that don\u2019t appear in the teaching team list, so are good for staff helping in a topic but you don\u2019t want the student to be contacting them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Staff can only be recorded once they are employed by Flinders, so it important that HR employment is current to add a staff member.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the other 20 or so roles we have in FLO would constitute less than 0.001% percent of enrolments.
