{"id":87,"date":"2019-10-30T12:55:31","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T02:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-business-services\/?p=87"},"modified":"2019-10-30T14:44:55","modified_gmt":"2019-10-30T04:14:55","slug":"lean-in-higher-education-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-business-services\/2019\/10\/30\/lean-in-higher-education-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Lean in Higher Education Networking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Business Improvement team at Flinders University hosted the Lean in Higher Education (Lean HE) Australasia networking event at the Bedford Park campus on 30<sup>th<\/sup> August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Lean HE is the peer led community of practice for people working to apply Lean and similar approaches in Higher Education. It gives us an opportunity to engage with our colleagues across the sector, share experiences and explore new ideas. The event was attended by a dozen universities.<\/p>\n<p>The day started with Sam Osborne, from Serco,\u00a0 sharing his experience on Lean Maturity models, reasons why improvement programs fail and the 6 stages of an improvement program.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by a case study presented by Sorin Teleman who works for one of Australia\u2019s leading infrastructure businesses. Sorin shared the ups and downs of his Lean journey with the APA Group and benefits of RPA implementation. Both presentations generated a lot of discussion and some valuable insights were gained by all.<\/p>\n<p>We wrapped up the day up with a presentation from Zarine, Business Improvement Lead, \u00a0on the \u2018Battle Of The Frameworks\u2019. We discussed Design Thinking vs Lean vs Agile approaches and it was interesting to hear others&#8217; take on this topic.<\/p>\n<p>The networking event was a great success and Business Improvement teams from Universities across Australia got to enjoy the beautiful views and food from Alere; our hospitality was greatly appreciated.
