{"id":144,"date":"2019-09-04T09:10:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-03T23:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-research-services\/?p=144"},"modified":"2019-09-04T09:13:34","modified_gmt":"2019-09-03T23:43:34","slug":"144","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-research-services\/2019\/09\/04\/144\/","title":{"rendered":"REMINDER: Deep Thought HPC Outage 4th September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Reminder<\/strong><\/span>: today, (4th September), there will be an outage of the Flinders High Performance Computing (HPC) facility <b>Deep Thought <\/b>from <b>9:30 am to 5pm<\/b>,\u00a0so that the HPC management tool SLURM can be enhanced to take full advantage of the new HPC.<\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"eop\">The SLURM update will allow:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"eop\">Enhanced queue management<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"eop\">More efficient use of available resources including specialist data nodes (GPU).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b>It is critical that all your Deep Thought jobs finish before 9am. Any jobs running after 9:30 am will be stopped, potentially resulting in lost data.<\/b><\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">After Deep Thought is made available again, you should\u00a0update your SLURM scripts to take full advantage of the improvements.
