{"id":189,"date":"2020-05-11T14:46:01","date_gmt":"2020-05-11T05:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-research-services\/?p=189"},"modified":"2020-05-12T09:56:09","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T00:26:09","slug":"research-data-management-as-a-service-project-introduction-and-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/digital-research-services\/2020\/05\/11\/research-data-management-as-a-service-project-introduction-and-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Data Management as a Service &#8211; Project Introduction and Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Research Data Management as a Service is a joint project between Digital Research Services (DRS) and The Library, which aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase discoverability and accessibility of Flinders research data assets associated with Flinders world class research<\/li>\n<li>Improve the management of research data assets associated with Flinders research<\/li>\n<li>Review the current research data management policy framework at Flinders with advice and recommendations for change to the DVCR<\/li>\n<li>Capture institutional value from Flinders research data assets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In quarter one of 2020 the project has spent time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewing current research data management policies within Flinders and relevant legislation and codes<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing current practices for capturing research data, research metadata and data management plans<\/li>\n<li>Capturing and reviewing requirements for managing the research data management lifecycle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the coming months, the project will be investigating best practice research data management services and solutions at other Australian universities and performing internal and external market scanning for potential solutions that will meet Flinders requirements. Later in the year the project will engage with a representative cross-section of researchers to assess potential research data management services and solutions in more detail and make recommendations on preferred options.
