The inaugural Medical Alumni Dinner was a celebration of the contribution of School of Medicine (SoM) alumni to the success of the medical program over the past half century. It was a time for alumni to reconnect with their peers, share stories, and hear about future plans for the medical course.

The Town Hall gala dinner, held on Remembrance Day, was a fitting occasion to acknowledge the generosity of the Shorne family and friends for their tremendous contribution to the Dr Lesley Shorne Scholarship.

Honouring the memory of Flinders graduate Dr Lesley Shorne, the scholarship aims to encourage mature women (25 yrs+) to pursue a career in medicine and serve as an advocate for women’s health and wellbeing.

“This scholarship encourages bright and compassionate mature women to consider that a career in medicine is possible, despite the many obstacles that may be present.”

Professor Paul Worley Dean, Flinders School of Medicine
