Andrew Dansie(BSc ‘03) has been awarded a full Clarendon Scholarship to undertake a D.Phil. at Oxford University. Clarendon Scholarships are awarded to academically excellent students with the best proven and future potential and cover 3 years of tuition and college fees in full as well as living expenses. Recipients are scholars selected from the leaders in their field – academic departments nominate whom they believe are the most deserving of their place at the University of Oxford based on their academic record and ability to contribute significantly to their field of study, both in the present and future. This feature ensures the best and brightest minds are selected as Clarendon scholars.

Undertaking his research in the Department of Geography and Environment at Oxford, he will look at the effect of airborne dust, and its associated macronutrients (largely Phosphorus and Nitrogen), from equatorial Africa on eutrophication of the African Great Lakes.

Since 2008 he has worked for research-focused United Nations Think Tank on Water, the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health, looking at coordinating a network of global scientists to conduct a scientific investigation for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and their US$ 6 billion International Waters investment in transboundary water ecosystems across 152 countries around the world, comprising river basins, lakes, groundwater aquifers, large marine ecosystems and the open ocean.
