id=\"caption-attachment-1065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tonsley campus<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The former Mitsubishi site at Tonsley is to become the home of Flinders University&#8217;s largest single investment in educational facilities since the University was established in 1966.<\/p>\n<p>The new Tonsley campus will provide a state-of-the-art, six storey, 18,000 sqm facility and will be the new home of the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics (CSEM).\u00a0 The University\u2019s $120 million investment in Tonsley will cement its role as a major contributor to the economic and social development of the southern part of Adelaide.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to CSEM, Tonsley will be a focus for the University\u2019s entrepreneurship, research commercialisation and business collaborations and house the Flinders <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/flinders-news\/2013\/05\/07\/flinders-launches-new-venture-institute\/\">New Venture Institute<\/a>, Medical Device Research Institute, Flinders Partners, Southern Knowledge Transfer Partnership, and Centre for Nanoscale Science and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the new building commenced in July and is expected to be completed in early 2015.\u00a0 The new school and associated research facilities will have close research and education links with the main Flinders campus, just 2 km away at Bedford Park.<\/p>\n<p>The Flinders education precinct will co-exist within a multi-use site that encompasses high value manufacturing, commercial and light industrial use, retail outlets, education and training facilities provided by TAFE, as well as residential housing.\u00a0 Flinders will collaborate with TAFE SA at the site to provide dual qualifications incorporating vocational and degree qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>The residential development being planned at Tonsley will commence in 2015 and at completion will house about 1,500 residents.<\/p>\n<p><a
