Across the summer, alumna <strong>Mel Vallejo<\/strong> (BA(Drama) \u201902), (former star of <em>Winners and Losers<\/em> on Channel 7) returned to screens around the world with a role opposite Sarah Snook in the prestige thriller <em>All Her Fault<\/em>. Together, Luke and Mel give us a timely reminder that the work of the Drama Centre permeates the upper tier of global contemporary screen performance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2593 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/drama-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/drama-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/drama-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/drama-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/drama.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In live performance, the \u2018Mad March\u2019 festival season has further underscored the strength and visibility of our recent graduates. <strong>Amber McMahon<\/strong> (BA (Hons)(Drama) \u201901), and <strong>Elvy-Lee Quici <\/strong>(BCreatArts (Drama)(Hons) \u201823) headlined <em>Mama<\/em> <em>Does Derby<\/em>, in the prestigious Adelaide and Sydney International Arts Festivals.<\/p>\n<p>The world premiere of <em>Meteors<\/em>, written and performed by <strong>Melissa Pullinger <\/strong>(BCreatArts (Drama)(Hons) \u201921) and directed by <strong>Connor Reidy<\/strong> (BCreatArts (Drama)(Hons) \u201922)<strong>,<\/strong> has emerged as one of the defining works of the 2026 Fringe Festival, winning the Edinburgh Fringe Tour Ready Award, the Melbourne Fringe Tour Ready Award and the Holden Street Theatres Award, and gaining access to international touring pathways, marking a significant breakthrough for its creative team.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2594 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/boxer-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/boxer-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/boxer-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/boxer-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/encounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/04\/boxer.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Multiple other graduates were recognised across the Adelaide Fringe awards, including <strong>Jim Smith<\/strong> (BCreatArts(Drama)(Hons) \u201914) for <em>How Not to Make it in America<\/em> while <em>Bitch Boxer<\/em>, featuring graduates <strong>Hannah Smith<\/strong> (BPerf(Directing) &#8217;25) and <strong>Shardae Santos<\/strong> (BLitt(French) &#8217;25, BPerf(Acting)(Hons) &#8217;26), enjoyed a sold out season and won the Artform Shaker Award.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the scenes, <strong>Joanne Hartstone<\/strong> (BCreatArts (Drama)(Hons) \u201905) has delivered a major producing slate across the fringe, with no less than seven productions, earning multiple Adelaide Fringe awards. Her coup of presenting two international works in a thrilling traverse theatre installed in the historic Mortlock Library demonstrates the scale of leadership and entrepreneurial impact our graduates.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the graduate successes, the Drama Centre showcased current students in four Fringe productions, on campus and at Holden Street Theatres. Enjoying sold out performances and rave reviews.
