This workshop is held to progress national developments in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander genomics data. A workshop on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural and Intellectual Property processes in genomics aims to create a collaborative and inclusive space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, genomics researchers, and stakeholders can come together to assist in the development of robust and culturally relevant frameworks for the responsible use of genomic data. It seeks to uphold Indigenous Rights, foster mutual respect, and empower communities in genomics medicine and research.<\/p>\n
This workshop brings together communities, genomics researchers, and stakeholders to understand existing data systems and their processes in the use of genomics data. It will identify how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are able to ensure their inherent rights to control, use and protect their genomics data within the existing systems in which genomics data is collected and used.<\/p>\n
The workshop will centre Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property rights, protocol and responsibilities that must be met in the collection and analysis of biological samples and resulting genomics data.<\/p>\n
It is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, genomics researchers, and stakeholders in genomics data and genomics related data across medicine, research, and policy.<\/p>\n
