In 25 words or less, tell us what your research is about.

I work with communities to enhance health and wellbeing through research in public health, education, and sport.

How do you believe your research will impact patient care or public health outcomes?

I aim for my research to contribute to culturally responsive, community-driven interventions that are collaborative, capacity-building, and promote positive health and wellbeing.

What do you enjoy most about being a researcher?

What I enjoy most about research is collaborating with, and learning from, amazing people – both researchers and community members. That, and knowing that the work we do really matters and makes a difference.

What do you do when you’re not researching?

I’m usually doing something to do with sport… whether it is playing hockey myself, supporting my kids play in their various teams and activities, or heading out to watch a game on the weekend. I also enjoy camping and travelling!

What advice would you give to aspiring health and medical researchers?

Reflexivity is key.  Taking time to consider your positionality and how this informs your thoughts, actions, and assumptions is important and valuable. Stay open to feedback and learning from others.
