Flinders upgrades HR System

Flinders University will launch a new version of the HR System and the Employee Self Service (ESS), which is used by employees to record hours worked and/or leave taken etc, later this year.

To ensure this project is successful, there has been close collaboration between Human Resources and Information Technology Services.

Flinders chose to upgrade in order to realise several benefits, including new and improved functionality:

  • A new, more contemporary look and feel to ESS – easy, intuitive navigation creating an improved experience for users as well as supervisors when viewing team information
  • Improved online casual timesheets – easier to use and more flexible
  • Improved reporting capability
  • Improved information security as users will access ESS using their Flinders Authentication Number (FAN) instead of their employee number

User Acceptance Testing has been completed and Parallel Runs are underway, with cut-over planned for the weekend of Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, 2013.

Further updates will follow in the lead up to go live on Monday, December 2, 2013, with details of what is different and what will remain the same.

You will need your FAN to access the upgraded ESS, so please ensure you have activated your FAN – please follow this link to find out how.
