Car parking tips – Bedford Park

Whether you are returning to work and/or study, or starting at Flinders, here are some helpful hints about car parking on our Bedford Park campus.

We encourage you to consider environmentally-friendly modes of transport which also helps reduce traffic congestion and demand for parking on campus.

However, if you are unable to use public transport, ride your bicycle or walk to the campus, the following information will help you find a car park and reach your destination on time:

Parking Permits

  • Please ensure you have purchased a Flinders University Yearly or Semester 2014 Parking Permit – and ensure your new permit is clearly displayed on your vehicle. NOTE: 2013 Parking Permits expire on March 7, 2014.
  • To minimise delays and avoid lengthy queues, a Parking Permit application can be downloaded here. Once completed, take your form (early, if possible) to the Cashiers Office located in the Union Mall or the Student Hub at Sturt Campus (Decafé Food Hall, Sturt North).

Car Parks

  • A new 250-vehicle car park is now available for General Permit Parking. Centrally located a short five-minute walk from the Registry Building, Flinders Medical Centre and Sturt Buildings, Car Park 19A is adjacent Flinders Living with entry via Sturt Drive.
  • Car Park 13 (Sturt Campus) is now a short-term two-hour limit car park to improve available parking conditions for students and visitors.
  • Car Park 18 is now a Semester and Yearly Permit Car Park.
  • Short-term parking across campus has been consolidated and we now have two-hour limits to improve, and increase the availability of, short-term parking.
  • Car Park 6 will remain unchanged: There is a 4-hour limit on the top level and 8-hour limit on the lower level.

Overflow Parking

  • Demand for parking during the first six weeks of Semester 1 is high, so if you are arriving on campus after 9.30am you may find the inner car parks closer to buildings to be full. During this period, overflow parking will be available on the Oval (opposite Flinders Private Hospital). A free shuttle bus will depart every 10 minutes from 9.30am and take you to your campus destination.
  • To return to the Oval, the Campus Loop Bus service will run return trips every 20 minutes each weekday until 6pm, then every 45 minutes until 9:45pm. Click here for the location of the Loop Bus stops.
