Southgate Institute Policy Club

Southgate Institute and SACOSS will be holding the next Policy Club on 5 March where Professor Ron Labonté, Canada Research Chair, will discuss the politics and impact of austerity and argue that taxation should be increased to at least the levels of some 20 years ago.

Following his talk, a panel consisting of Hon Rob Lucas MLC, Opposition spokesperson on Health, Ross Womersley, Executive Director SACOSS and Dr Genevieve Knight, Senior Research Fellow, National Institute of Labour Studies will discuss the implications of Professor Labonté’s talk for South Australia, especially whether increasing taxes is feasible and if so, how additional resources for health from increased taxation could be deployed.
