Timetabling Project

Flinders University’s project to provide a systems-based timetabling and room booking solution for the University is on track for implementation for 2015.

The Timetable Project team was established in April 2014, and has been working closely with the Timetable Reference Group and Faculty and School User Groups to achieve coordinated and consistent timetabling practices across Flinders University, and facilitate the timely production of a single University timetable.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Information Services) and Chief Information Officer, Professor Richard Constantine, said the timetable solution will enhance the student experience by supporting more flexible course structures, and attractive study timetables for students.

“It will also support the demand for teaching space due to curriculum changes, growth in student numbers and expansion of teaching locations,” Professor Constantine said.

“We’ll be able to manage and predict the need for teaching spaces, while addressing parking and related resource needs more efficiently, as well as better utilising academic and professional staff time through efficient teaching timetables and reduced administrative overheads.”

Every School has been assigned a dedicated Timetable Project Officer, who will be the direct liaison for Schools on all project matters – click here for contacts.

A series of presentations were presented for all Faculty executive staff, all Schools (including presentations at Flinders Medical Centre, Sturt and Victoria Square, the Northern Territory and the Riverland via videoconference, and service areas including Information Technology Services, Centre for University Teaching, and Buildings and Property teams).

The 2015 University draft timetable will be published in October 2014 for final checking and review by Schools, and the 2015 University timetable will be published in November 2014.
