10 things you should know about volunteering: lecture

MelProfessor Phyllis Tharenou, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, invites you and your colleagues to attend  10 Things You Should Know About Volunteering: Reflections on Volunteering in the 21st Century, a lecture by Professor Melanie Oppenheimer to be given as part of the Professionals Lecture Series.

Holder of the Chair of History within the School of International Studies, Professor Oppenheimer’s eclectic research interests include the role of voluntary organisations in times of peace and war, and the history of volunteering and voluntary action. Her most recent book (edited with Jeni Warburton), Volunteering in Australia, will be published in October 2014. She is a Chief Investigator on two ARC projects concerning volunteering. In 2014, she was appointed Chair of a Working Group as part of the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia.

The lecture will be held at Flinders University Victoria Square on Tuesday, 14 October at 3.45pm for 4pm.
