No rest for Morley and Archer

MMEmeritus Professor Michael Morley, together with singer Robyn Archer and virtuoso accordionist George Butrumlis, presented the cabaret show Que Reste-t-il? as part of the recent Port Fairy Classical Music Festival.

The show is a survey of French Cabaret from its beginnings with Aristide Bruant and Le Chat Noir, up to Brel and Gainsbourg, via Dada and performers and songwriters such as Damia, Piaf, Leo Ferré and Charles Trenet. The songs are presented in French and English, with translations by both Professor Morley and Robyn Archer.

The trio has been invited to present the program in Hong Kong as part of a Festival and Conference in mid- November.

Robyn Archer was recently elected an Honorary Fellow of The Australian Society for the Humanities
