The Stolen Generations – lessons from Canada

KentDistinguished Visiting Professor from the University of Toronto, Professor Kent Roach, will present a seminar in the Moot Court of the Law and Commerce Building at noon this Thursday (13 November).

Stolen Generations: Lessons from the Canadian experience will examine the Canadian residential school litigation and the ongoing Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Canada with respect to schools. The critical emphasis will be on the constraining effects of litigation drawn from corrective justice and idealized notions of the truth and reconciliation process drawn from restorative and transitional justice.

There will also be discussion of the stolen generations bill before the South Australian legislature
