Calling all Flinders scientists – sign up now to Scimex

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor David Day (pictured leftDavid Day) represented Flinders at a pre-launch event for Scimex – the Science Media Exchange – at Bio21 in Melbourne last week.

Spearheaded by the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC), Scimex is a multi-user, breaking science news portal for Australia and New Zealand that aims to foster greater interaction and collaboration between scientists and journalists. As contributors, Flinders scientists and researchers will be able to upload embargoed media releases, multimedia including images and short videos and pitch story ideas to registered journalists. Once an embargo lifts, information will become publicly available via Scimex.

The platform, which officially opens in 2015, will also enable Flinders contributors to create their own expert page, be searchable by registered journalists in the Scimex ‘Find an Expert’ database, and add upcoming science conferences or events to the Scimex events calendar.
