Introduction to high-performance computing

eResearch SA invites you to attend its interactive one-day workshop for HPC users who will be using the Tizard machine and its different computing systems. 

This workshop is designed to be suitable for new users wanting a complete introduction to high-performance computing.

Participants will learn the basics of using a high performance computer including logging in, submitting jobs, and using the queuing system. They will also learn how to make best use of HPC for different types of tasks and applications.

During the hands-on workshop you will:
• learn when and how to use the different components of the Tizard machine
• log in from a desktop machine
• learn how the queuing system works
• submit a job
• compile and run your own programs
• test your programs.

There will also be an overview of options for running HPC jobs using the Australian Research Cloud.

The workshop will be held from 9.30am to 4.30pm in the Collaborative Teaching Suite (Room 218) in the Ingkarni Wardli Building at the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace Campus on 18 June 2015.
Staff and students of the three SA universities and SAHMRI are eligible to attend at the member price of $30.
