There will be a launch for a new book, Red Professor: The Cold War Life of Fred Rose, by Flinders historians Associate Professor Peter Monteath and Dr Valerie Munt at Flinders University Victoria Square at 6pm on 1 July.

Professor Kim Economides, the Dean of the Flinders Law School, will launch the book, which has been published by Wakefield Press.

The biography describes the turbulent life of  meteorologist and anthropologist Fred Rose, who became embroiled in Australia’s Soviet spy scandal in the early 1950s. He subsequently moved to East Germany, where he became a respected academic, but also a Stasi informer. He died in 1991, leaving his memoirs incomplete.
