Flinders a partner in two OLT projects

Flinders is a partner institution in two successful grants from the latest round of grants from the Office of Learning and Teaching.

Professor Julie Mills of the University of South Australia is leading a project called What should I study? Improving tertiary pathways by improving support for prospective students.

The $240.000 research project will involve all three South Australian universities to examine the ways in which Year 12 students determine what to study at university, and how universities, high schools and government organisations engage with them as they make this decision.

The research aims to develop of a framework and process model that will be used to design better support and development strategies for prospective students.

Flinders is also a partner in a $467,000 project led by Professor Stephen Billett from Curtin University. Augmenting students’ learning for employability through post-practicum educational processes will see healthcare disciplines from five universities trial a range of interventions by teaching staff to improve the transformation of students’ experience of practicums into knowledge for work.

Nine grants and 11 fellowships were announced nationally.
