Visual art driven by science – ARA on show

saltScientists from Flinders University’s Airborne Research Australia are mounting two exhibitions of their striking visual images for this year’s Fringe.

In Salt, which will have its official opening at Flinders University Victoria Square on February 29, aerial photographs are combined with data from Lidar to present a unique sculptural perspective on the industrial salt evaporation pans at St Kilda. The exhibiton runs from 1 to 23 March.

From 12 February, the exhibition Spy in the Sky Trilogy: Lidar, Point Clouds and Wavelengths provides new ‘truths’ in the form of visual images generated from data collected by airborne research instruments. The exhibition, at Garage International in the North Adelaide Community Centre, 176 Tynte Street, runs until March 15.
