Indonesia goes digital – major conference on campus

pendopoThe biggest event on the Indonesian student calendar, Konferensi Internasional Pelajar Indonesia (KIPI) 2016, organised by the Indonesian Students Association Australia, will be held at Flinders this Friday and Saturday.

The conference, titled ‘Digital Society Towards the New Millennium: Maximising Opportunities’, will look at how digital and social media are pushing back the boundaries of social, political and business engagement globally.

Indonesian and international students and scholars worldwide interested in Indonesia’s development are invited to attend presentations by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Willix Halim, Senior Vice-President of Growth at Freelancer.com, and Professor Terry Flew from Queensland University of Technology.

One of the highlights will be a unique ‘Digital Jembatan’ focusing on Digital Diplomacy and Soft Power in Indonesia-Australia relations.

That will take place from 11-12.15pm on Friday, featuring the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Pak Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, First Assistant Secretary Public Diplomacy and Communications at DFAT, Rob Tranter, The Lead South Australia’s Jim Plouffe and Indonesian postgraduate student Yura Carissa.
