Wednesday concert of songs about music

Songs celebrating music are among the loveliest ever composed.

Gillian Dooley (soprano), with Ray Booth and Fiona McCauley (piano) will present a selection of favourites, from Orlando Gibbons’ sublimely simple The Silver Swan to Gabriel Faure’s insouciant Mandoline, along with songs and arias by Purcell, Handel, Haydn and Schubert, and of course Mendelssohn’s lyrical On Wings of Song.

The concert is at 1pm, on Wednesday 1 June in the Noel Stockdale Room of the Central Library. Admission by gold coin donation.
