Australian Awards for University Teaching

All staff involved in teaching or teaching/student-related support activities  are encouraged to consider how the Australian Awards for University Teaching 2017 could help them gain recognition and support for their work.

Flinders has an excellent record of participation and achievement in these national programs, which include Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning and Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Flinders Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) & Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Clare Pollock would like to encourage staff who are interested to consider the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching’s Application Workshop on Friday 10 March.

Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning – Institutional deadline 27 April. Citations recognise and reward the diversity of contributions made by individuals and teams to the quality of student learning. Up to 150 Citations, valued at $10,000 each, are awarded to eligible staff who have made a significant contribution to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period.

Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning – Institutional deadline 3 July.  Program Awards recognise learning and teaching support programs and services that make an innovative and outstanding contribution to student learning outcomes and the quality of the student experience. Up to 12 Program Awards, valued at $25,000 each, are awarded to programs and services that have set high standards for ongoing quality in learning and teaching activities in Australian higher education institutions.

Awards for Teaching Excellence  – Institutional deadline 3 July. Teaching Awards celebrate a group of the nation’s most outstanding university teachers in their fields. The Awards give recognition to teachers (individuals and teams) renowned for the excellence of their teaching, who have outstanding presentation skills and who have made a broad and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education. One of the recipients is further recognised with the Prime Minister’s Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year.
