Free screening for oral cancer

Free screening for oral cancer will be taking place at Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer on 27 July from 9.00am-12.00pm.

The painless, three-minute test is effective in identifying pre-cancerous tissue in the head and neck and should be undertaken annually by everyone over 18 years of age.

Each year 5,000 Australians are newly diagnosed with head and neck cancer.

Studies now show that HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), a sexually transmitted virus, is one of the fastest growing cause of oral cancers.

Patients are increasingly younger, healthier, and often non-smoking individuals.
