High flying nutrition champion chosen for Think Tank

Flinders nutritionist Dr Kacie Dickinson is one of 60 outstanding early and mid-career researchers from around the Asia-Pacific who has been chosen to examine the future of nutrition science at the 2017 Australian Academy of Science’s Theo Murphy High Flyers Think Tank this week in Perth.

The Think Tank will run from 26-29 July 2017 and will focus on ‘Rethinking food and nutrition science: aspirations, obstacles and strategies for the future’.

The Think tank represents an important opportunity for the future leaders of nutrition science to contribute to the future directions of the discipline and benefit from peer networking.

Think Tank participants will examine nutrition from four different perspectives:

  • Critical evaluation of nutrition science
  • Key control points for healthy, equitable and sustainable food and nutrition
  • Essential goals for achieving effective solutions
  • Tools for change

The Australian Academy of Science has been hosting annual High Flyers Think Tanks on nationally important topics since 2002.

These events bring together experts from a broad range of disciplines to discuss novel applications of science and technology, and to identify gaps in knowledge that need to be addressed.

More information on this year’s Think Tank is available from the official Think Tank program or by following the Think Tank on Twitter using #TMThinktank.
