Inaugural Chief Information Officer appointed

Flinders University is pleased to welcome Kerrie Campbell as its inaugural Chief Information Officer (CIO).

She will take up the position on 11 September.

Vice-President Corporate Services Mark Gregory says the CIO role is a newly created position to oversee a reshaped and enhanced Information and Digital Services Division.

With almost 20 years’ experience in the UK and Australia, Ms Campbell joins Flinders from The University of Adelaide, where as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Associate Director Application Services, and most recently Acting CIO, she has been pivotal in the introduction of Agile delivery methodologies and the implementation of a new university-wide Learning Management System.

Her previous roles include National Manager – Information and Application Services at Centrelink, and positions at AGL, Centrica (UK), Royal London Insurance Company (UK) and EDS (Aust).

“We’re delighted to have a leader of Kerrie’s calibre and breadth of experience as we transform the way in which we deliver information and digital services and solutions across the whole of our University” Mr Gregory says.

“Responsible for the strategic development and delivery of digital solutions across the University, Kerrie will lead a recently consolidated team of approximately 200 technology and data analytics specialist.

“The division covers the whole of Flinders’ technology resources, and provides information and analytical services to enable achievement of our teaching and research business goals.”

Ms Campbell says she’s enthusiastic about the opportunity to leverage digital technologies to achieve the University’s ambitions.

“I am thrilled and excited to join Flinders, and I’m looking forward to working collaboratively across the University and leading the Information and Digital Services team on a transformative journey,” Ms Campbell says.

Mr Gregory expressed his appreciation to Acting Director of Information and Technology Services Nicole Fishers, for her exceptional stewardship of Flinders digital assets during a time of large scale change.
