Keep your Windows 10 PC up-to-date

Last year Flinders rolled out Windows 10 across the University to improve digital performance and ensure a uniform version of the Windows operating system was in place.

There are now 4,000 Windows 10 PCs across Flinders’ campuses.

There are still over 2,500 PCs not running Windows 10.

Staff that haven’t upgraded to Windows 10 yet are encouraged to do so.

Once installed, staff will need to keep Windows 10 current, safe and operating smoothly by updating it regularly.

Microsoft has changed the way Windows is updated: instead of releasing a new version every few years, Microsoft now delivers incremental upgrades for Windows 10 every 6 months.

Apart from keeping computers more secure, this also gives staff access to new features sooner.

It’s important that staff take action as soon as they see the prompt below:

If staff choose not to schedule their upgrade, their PC will be upgraded automatically. This may take place at a time that is inconvenient for staff.

Detailed information on Windows 10 upgrades is available on the University’s Windows 10 web-page.

The first upgrade will be made available this month, so staff are advised to please keep their eye out for the Windows 10 upgrade prompt, and set the upgrade to take place at a time of their own choosing.
