Meet our Athletes of the Year

Track cyclist Holly Takos and distance runner Riley Cocks (pictured) have been named Female and Male Athletes of the Year respectively, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to university sport.

The awards, bestowed by Flinders Sport and Fitness, celebrate athletes with the highest level of on-field success and sportsmanship across sport events sanctioned by universities Australia-wide.

This year Holly was selected for both the AIS squad and the Australian senior track cycling team and Riley was selected for the Australian team at the World University Games.

A series of Blue Awards have also been announced to recognise elite-level performance in sporting clubs specifically affiliated with Flinders University Sport.

The 2017 Blue Award recipients include Riley Cocks and Hannah Mathwin, who has been a member of Australian Lacrosse teams since she was 16 and is earmarked for a spectacular future in the sport.

Congratulations goes to all of Flinders’ exceptional sportspeople and the staff who support them.
