Have your say on gender equality

Staff are invited to be a part of the Athena Scientific Women’s Academic Network (SWAN) gender equality program by participating in focus groups.

The Athena SWAN program was initiated in the United Kingdom in 2005 to enhance gender equity in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).

Flinders University is participating in the Australian pilot of Athena SWAN, run by the Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) group of the Australian Academy of Science (AAS) and the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE).

Part of the university’s involvement with the project is an honest evaluation by staff of performance in gender equality.

With this in mind, Athena SWAN at Flinders is running a series of focus groups to gain insight into gender equality and staff experiences.

There are also a number of sessions to evaluate performance for those working outside of STEMM; participants are sought in a number of areas for groups scheduled in the timetable below.

Focus group timetable

Please note: All groups will be held in the Research Development and Support Office meeting room.

Participants will be required to complete a survey before attending a 1.5 hour focus group.

It is estimated that participation in this exercise will total no more than two hours.

For further information, see the Athena SWAN at Flinders webpage or contact Dr Brodie Beales at brodie.beales@flinders.edu.au or via phone on 8201 2275.
