Gas and water outages at Bedford Park campus

On Saturday 9 December 2017, there will be gas and water outages at Flinders’ Bedford Park campus in order for water and gas infrastructure upgrades to occur.

These works have been scheduled at a time of year that will have minimal impact on students and staff.

Gas outage

The gas outage will affect the entire Bedford Park campus on Saturday 9 December 2017.

The gas outage will affect laboratories, gas hot water systems, cook tops and BBQs from 8.00am-10.00pm.

This means there will be no hot water in the Sport Centre for showers during this time.

As part of the gas outage, it will be necessary to purge the gas from the pipes and release it to air.

This will be conducted at the tennis court at Flinders Living behind the University Hall from approximately 7.00am-1.00pm.

If staff and students smell gas during this time but suspect it is not part of this work, they are advised to please contact Security on 8201 2880.

Water outage

On Saturday 9 December 2017 between 8.00am-10.00am there will also be a water outage affecting the Flinders Living precinct.

When the water supply is restored, the water is likely to appear to be cloudy at first due to air in the pipes.

Demolition of fire booster cabinet on Registry Road 9-16 December 2017

As part of the fire water infrastructure upgrade, the fire booster cabinet near the bus stops on Registry Road will be demolished.

This area will be fenced off while jack-hammering and concrete removal occurs.

From 9-16 December 2017, Registry Road will be partially divided to allow pedestrians safe access to the crossing.

A ramp will be installed to make buses accessible.

Traffic management will remain in place until 16 December 2017 and buses and cars will be required to travel slowly through this zone.

All queries about these outages should be directed to Bronwyn Porter on 8201 3578.
