Grab-and-go menu delights at Grind & Press 

Known for its fresh and easy take-away options and delicious ground coffee, Grind & Press at Bedford Park also offers an extensive range of cold press juices, smoothies and fruit crushes.

Located on the ground floor of the Professional Services Building, Grind & Press opened on campus in February 2016 to coincide with the launch of the new Student Hub and Plaza.

Owned by Marcus and Michael Breach, a father and son duo who have also owned and operated Grass Roots for the last ten years, Grind & Press at Flinders is managed by Maddy Fletcher.

“We are are a young, close-knit team mostly made up of past and present Flinders University students who pride themselves on good customer service and a strong sense of fun,” says Maddy.

“We specialise in organic coffee beans and freshly made salads, wraps and focaccias that are made from locally-sourced ingredients.

We also provides many gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options.

“Our menu is constantly changing to meet the needs of our customers and we offer tantalising soups and hot specials throughout winter.

“We know the value of good coffee and good food and love being a part of the Flinders community.

“We feel good about providing healthy nourishment to all of our customers who are studying, teaching and working hard,” Maddy says.

Catering

Grind & Press is able to cater for a range of meetings or events at Flinders University.

Says Grind & Press co-owner, Marcus Breach: “We can do everything from sweets and fruit platters to tasty wraps and baguettes on-the-go.

“In winter we can provide an urn of mouth-watering, fresh soup accompanied by bread rolls.

“We also do cocktail canapé boards for five to 500 people.

“We encourage staff to take a look at the Grind & Press website or pop in and speak with one of our staff to learn more about the catering options that are available to them,” says Marcus.

Social responsibility

As part of the ‘conscious consumption’ movement, Grind & Press offers a 50 cent discount on coffee when customers bring their own cup.

Their coffee beans are fair-trade and their packaging is biodegradable.

Current specials

Grind & Press endeavors to be price-conscious and offers coffee from $3.50 and sweet treats from $4.00.

Salads and wraps are priced between $6.00 and $10.00.

“We have recently started stocking a vegan pastry range from Continental bakeries, so now we can offer a vegan pie and a 750ml bottle of water for $8.50,” says Maddy.

“Closer to O-Week we will be introducing two new specials, a $5.00 regular-sized smoothie or juice and a $2.00 small-sized coffee until 28 February 2018.”

Opening hours

Grind & Press is open from Monday-Thursday from 7.00am-5.00pm and on Friday from 7.00am-4.00pm.
