Artificial intelligence: opportunities in government and beyond

Flinders University is collaborating with the Department of Premier and Cabinet to present a policy networking forum on artificial intelligence, including opportunities and challenges for the public sector.

The free event, on Monday 18 June, will include presentations from two Flinders experts and will be held at Flinders at Victoria Square. Afternoon tea will be provided.

Professor Miguel Vatter

Artificial Intelligence and Human Dignity: A New Slavery? And for Whom?

Professor Vatter is Professor of Political Science in the College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University. He has a PhD in Philosophy and has held academic positions in the United States and Chile, as well as visiting professorships in Germany and China. His current areas of research are Machiavelli, Kant, republicanism, neoliberalism, biopolitics and political theology. He is co-founder and director of international biopolitics research network, www.biopolitica.org.

Dr Mark Dean

The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Digital Transformation and Implications for Public Policy

Dr Dean is a Research Associate at the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute at Flinders Tonsley campus. He has a PhD from the University of Adelaide.

Mr Jeremy Conway

Advanced Automotive and Driverless Vehicle Technology in South Australia

Jeremy Conway is General Manager, Commercial and Legal in the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastruc­ture. He oversees strategic projects including the Future Mobility Lab Fund. He is Chair of the Department’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Steering Committee and represents the Department on a number of national committees, including the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative Executive Steering Committee, Austroads Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Program Industry Reference Group, Austroads Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Steering Committee.
