Pioneering exceptional outcomes together

Staff and students are invited to help co-design a new Flinders University Sustainability Plan by contributing feedback and creative ideas that will shape the University’s impact and see it reduce its eco-footprint.

The release of the draft Sustainability Plan will intensify the conversation on sustainability at Flinders and critically examine the University’s impact on the environment and its communities – resulting in clear actions to be taken from now through to 2022.

Flinders prides itself on innovation and a commitment to sustainability. From uncovering novel approaches to applying them in innovative ways, staff and students will now come together as pioneers in meaningful, positive change for the University.

Over the next four weeks, the University is seeking bold ideas to help craft a vision for a sustainable future. These will inform a final plan that includes aims, aspirations and targets set by the University’s community.

The draft plan is categorised into seven operational themes together with actions in research and education.

Each theme has its own vision that broadly outlines the achievements sought in that specific area, together with asking: “how do we get there?” The input of staff and students will be instrumental in answering this question and helping the University structure a framework that aligns with its values and ethos.

By enlisting the expertise and creativity of staff, researchers and students, the plan will greatly benefit from the collective wisdom of the University community – and its people can take ownership over the targets and achievements.

Find out more and submit a feedback form on the Sustainability at Flinders webpage, or by visiting the feedback walls located at Bedford Park, Victoria Square, Tonsley, Sturt, and Flinders NT.

The final report will be released in late 2018.
