Magic opportunity for young maths and physics researchers

MAGIC 2018 is a national mentoring and guidance workshop designed specifically for females, or people of diverse gender identity, who want to pursue a career in mathematics and physics research.

The MAGIC 2018 event – which will be held at University House, Australian National University, Canberra, from 29 October to 2 November – provides an opportunity for participants to explore the many facets of forging a career in academic, government or industry settings and will discuss how to create building blocks for success and resilience.

Participation in the MAGIC 2018 workshop is limited to 35 people, which will provide these early career researchers with the best opportunity to develop a variety of skills, create a support network to help them forge a successful career in science, and instigate potential collaborations.

Early Career Researchers at Flinders who are female or of diverse gender identity (up to 7 years after their PhD, excluding career interruptions), and have completed their PhD in Physics or Mathematics, are eligible to apply.

Successful Flinders applicants will receive financial support for economy round-trip travel from Adelaide to Canberra and be provided with accommodation from 29 October to 2 November at University House,  Australian National University.

Details of the workshop program are posted online at http://wp.maths.usyd.edu.au/MAGIC/
