Supporting students through information literacy

The next meeting of the ‘Writing across the Curriculum & Inside the Disciplines Community of Practice’ will focus on supporting student research and writing. Staff are invited to join this discussion on how the library team supports information literacy development across the undergraduate curriculum.

As part of the Professional Services Project, many former Liaison Librarians now have duties aligned with services and functions rather than subjects or disciplines. There are many strengths to this sustainable and scale-able service model, including the ability to better assist academics to scaffold information literacy instruction.

The Teaching and Learning Librarian Team work with teaching academics to prepare students for the workplace or further study by developing their information literacy skills, through the provision of face-to-face, blended and online support for teaching across the university.

Working with the library team will enable the development of library services and resources that best support teaching and learning.

Staff are invited to join Veronica Ghee and the University’s Teaching and Learning Librarian Team as they present highlights from the past year, and invite feedback and advice on what teaching staff need to support undergraduate students in developing information literacy.
