Understanding the value of ‘unlearning’

As part of its commitment to health education, Flinders’ Prideaux Centre for Research in Health Professions Education will present a seminar on “Individual Unlearning: Is it possible, and why is it important for university academics”.

The Prideaux Centre, named after Emeritus Professor David Prideaux, is an internationally reputable research centre and a crucial component of Flinders’ thriving health professional education culture.

The presentation, which will focus on challenging the established and questioning the accepted, will be delivered by Wasana Jayarathne.

Dr Jayarathne, a visiting scholar from Sri Lanka, will outline the concept of unlearning, including different types and processes of individual unlearning, and will encourage participants to reflect on their own unlearning experiences.
